Job Description:

Position Title: Lab Technician Wage: $20.00 - $29.00/hour Shift: 1st Hours: 7:00am - 3:00pm Are your skills not being fully utilized? Reach your maximum potential by working with QPS! QPS Employment Group has a great opportunity available for a Lab Technician at a company in Milwaukee, WI. This is a potential to hire position for 1st shift. Apply today! Lab Technician Responsibilities: - Cut samples using a power cut-off saw - Mount samples, maintaining a manual log - Polish mounts - Perform hardness tests using Rockwell Standard tester - Perform Rockwell Superficial tests - Conduct microhardness testing - Performs Brinell hardness tests using Detroit Brinell tester - Measure total and effective case depths using microscopes and various hardness testers - Evaluate decarburization using 30 pt Knoop test - Visually evaluate decarburization - Measure compound zone or white layer using 500x microscope magnification - Use camera on the microscope to capture/save sample photos - Understand and use various sample plans - Print SSI System trend charts - Read and understand work orders - Complete and initial work order operations - Input test data into TQM software - Prepare and complete customer certifications using Word, Excel and TQM - Initiate non-conforming reports for parts not meeting specifications and forwards to Plant Metallurgist - Tag nonconforming parts for hold - Follow proper verification of hardness testers - Follow lab cleaning routines - Ensures proper identification and storage of all lab chemicals - Operates forklift (must be Certified Lift Truck Trained) - Adhere to all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space and Hazardous Materials protocols - Complete required safety training Requirements for Lab Technician: - Ability to stand, walk and move between workstations for extended periods - Manual dexterity for handling small parts, tools and precision instruments - Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs occasionally - Visual acuity for detailed inspection and microscope work - Tolerance for working around heat, noise and industrial equipment IND010 QPS Employment Group is a full-service staffing firm comprised of dedicated and passionate people with over 50 offices throughout the United States.
