Job Description:
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Summary: Under the direction of the Plant
Manager, the Mechanical Assembly Technician performs all tasks
necessary to disassemble and re-assemble customer pumps, ensuring
the highest-level quality at the lowest possible cost, and meeting
customer delivery requirements and company performance standards,
in accordance with company policies and procedures. Essential
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may
be assigned. Follow procedures to disassemble pumps and parts,
blast & clean parts, and re-assemble of pumps and parts. Must be
able to perform this task independently. Hand dress (grind) parts
for proper appearance or functional dimensions. Check parts for
run-out. Make gaskets as needed. Ensure part sizes and dimensions
are accurate. Chase threads and tap holes when needed. Operate lift
equipment and cranes to safely move parts and pumps. Prepare pumps
for shipment, following procedures. Paint pumps and components. May
perform welding activities, to include pad welding, tack welding,
build-up and filling, and maintaining proper levels of materials
and supplies. May operate balance machine to balance pump
components according to procedures and specifications. May
sandblast and clean pumps and components. Complete special projects
as assigned. Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records,
documents, pictures, etc. Follow and comply with all safety and
work rules and regulations. Maintain a clean and organized work
environment. Be respectful to co-workers and be part of an
environment that fosters teamwork. May be asked to work overtime at
short notice. Travel to customer sites up to 40% of the time. *****
OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications: Requires a
high school diploma or GED and one to three years of related
experience; or a combination of education and experience. Must
obtain lift equipment certification & OSHA training after hire. May
require welding certification. Requires the ability to operate a
variety of small hand and power tools, precision measuring devices,
cranes and lift equipment, and tool room machines. May require the
ability to operate welding equipment. Prior knowledge and/or
experience with pump operation, fabrication, or repair is desired.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety
rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals. Ability to prepare routine reports and paperwork. Ability
to communicate effectively with customers and other employees of
the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in
all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and
decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to
apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but
uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with
problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized
situations. Requires the ability to operate a computer, keyboard
and job-related software. Requires the use of safety glasses and
shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, welding helmet and gloves,
face shield, dust mask, respirator, hot mitts and rubber gloves as
