SUPERVISOR: Operations Supervisor

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt


A team member in a Cell in D714 or D760, team member will be responsible for the set up of components for assembly for a Cell line using the Bill of Material. Team member at this level understands and meets the requirements of both Cell Team Member I and II. Will be responsible for meeting all safety, productivity, and quality standards set by the company.

This will include a team member that works on Tables and is responsible for setup of the jobs. It is expected that a team member working on Tables will also meet the requirements of Cell Team Member I and II.


  • Place all components in specific workstations as noted on Standard work.
  • Replenish components as needed when requested by assemblers working on the line.
  • Check for part availability.
  • Ensures Cell is set up to run properly for each job.
  • Operates conveyor belt and Label-Aire machine.
  • Tears down job when order is complete.
  • Communicates with team members to ensure cell is working efficiently.
  • Completes line status board.
  • Follows the Quality Management System requirements as outlined in the process notes on the press card, the applicable QMS procedures and work instructions; and suggests ways for continual improvement.
  • Promptly reports quality problems and shuts down the equipment if unable to resolve.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Follows EHS rules and regulations, participates in safety meetings and suggests ways for continual improvement.
  • Promptly reports personal injuries and unsafe conditions and helps to resolve them.
  • Understand FMPS and lean manufacturing concepts such as standard work, Top 5 goals and the importance of the line status boards.
  • Willing and able to cross train in other departments within the Value Stream.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

    Able to perform the above duties and responsibilities as well as the following:

    Cell Team Member I


    Helper / Inspector

    Completes assembly functions as directed by pick to light system or bill of materials; may include opening cartons, folding book-folders, placing components in them & sending them down conveyor or Cell.

    Takes completed sets from packaging stations and packs and stacks according to standard work. May need to weigh sets if applicable.

    Inspects first article of each set made according to standard work.

    Continuously identify any obvious damaged or defective parts or packaging material during the assembly process.

    Inspects sealing, labeling and /or printing of boxes.

    Assists and back up to the set-up team member.

    Returns unused parts to return racks.

    Completes move tickets and attaches them to the loads.

    May have to assist in other cell functions to complete job (ie. Inspection/bundler)

    Place load on the take-away tram, he/she performs the check-in procedure for Move. Assist loading unto the tugger .

    In Dept. 714, backup to helper/ inspector and in Dept. 760 , rotate into inspection

    Moves parts by using a hand-operated, non-powered truck.

    Identifies and corrects routine machine problems.

    Assists in setup of Label aire equipment.

  • Ability to read and understand bill of material, procedures, work instructions, safety rules and warning signs

  • Can identify non-conforming product (quantity and quality)
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace
  • Ability to multi task.
  • Demonstrate leadership by motivating and directing a team toward a common goal.
  • Know use of basic maintenance tools including screw driver and Allen wrench.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information with variety of employees.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and willing to be cross trained.

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to thirty-five pounds on a daily basis.
  • Ability to walk and move about, stoop and bend as necessary.
  • Ability to stand for an eight hour shift.
  • Normal or corrected vision necessary to read directions and closely examine parts and, to distinguish colors.
  • Normal hearing in order to detect equipment and motor malfunctions.
  • To be able to scoop and bend and reach for boxes.
  • Ability to pull, lift and transport gaskets to and from various locations within the assigned location.

  • Works in areas that can be uncomfortable due to noise, odors, and temperature extremes.
  • Works regularly with machines where carelessness could result in cuts, bruises, burns or muscle pulls. Serious injuries can be avoided if established safety precautions are followed.
