Job Description:

Modis is currently seeking a AutoCAD Technician with 3-5 years experience in Structured Fiber/Copper Cabling designs.  This is an exciting long-term contract with our commercial banking customer, located in the heart of Downtown Chicago.
 
This individual will be working on a larger telecommunications team, and will be primarily responsible for drawing up and managing architectural blueprints for Layer 1 Network Infrastructure (Fiber & Copper cabling)
 
The daily responsibilities for the Structured Cabling / AutoCAD Technician may include:
• Assisting the Team Leads with all Inside Plant / Outside Plant design tasks such as creating and managing the architectural blueprints for fiber and copper cabling, creating allocation tables, as-built documentation and network drawings using tools like AutoCAD.
• Assisting the Team Leads in coordinating the ordering and delivery of materials such as fiber cables, conduit and so on.
• Conducting bid analysis and creating / maintaining the design and bid documentation.  
• Working with technology vendors such as Internet Service Providers, Fiber Providers, etc to manage the pricing and delivery process
• Participating in field site surveys and team meetings to discuss progress of each location.
 
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
 
- Required Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field
- 3-5+ years (Intermediate level experience) in designing Fiber Optic or Copper Infrastructure for large enterprise organizations: FTTN/FTTP/FTTX Design and Implementation
- 3-5+ years (Advanced level experience) in Layer 1 Network design and drafting (AutoCAD,
- Expertise in creating & managing drawings & diagrams, as-builts and allocation designs.
- Background should include some basic / general knowledge of Telecommunications circuitry and provisioning  (T1/T3/OC-48/OC-96,etc)

Compensation for this role starts at $18-$21 / hour on an W2 basis, with the addition of subsidized PPO Medical benefits, 401K Retirement Savings plan and ongoing training opportunities!
