About the Unit - The Critical Care Unit (CCU) is an 18-bed mixed
ICU managing adult surgical, trauma, neuro, medical, and
cardiothoracic/vascular patients. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:2 and
adjusted for acuity throughout the shift. We have residents and
attendings present for both shifts to support continued medical
care and treatment. We utilize IABP, CRRT, EEG-continuous
monitoring, Acumen IQ, ICP monitoring, BIS monitoring, and TTM
devices. About Corewell Health South - Lakeland Hospitals - The
health system comprises three---hospitals, an outpatient surgery
center, a regional cancer center, rehabilitation centers, two
long-term care residences, home care and hospice services, and 34
affiliate physician practice locations. We provide both inpatient
and outpatient---medical services---throughout Southwest Michigan.
- Scope of Work - The Graduate Nurse plays a key role in the
delivery of caring, competent patient care in conjunction with a
mentoring Registered Nurse. Will perform assessments in an ongoing
and systematic manner, formulate a goal directed plan of care and
implement delegated interdependent and independent direct care
activities based on skills learning and clinical training,
assessment findings and evaluation of any previous interventions.
Collaborates with mentoring RN on the nursing process, supporting
documentation and other items as appropriate. It is expected that
Graduate Nurses will successfully obtain certification/licensure
from the State of Michigan and transition into a Registered Nurse
role within 60 days. For Corewell South, Graduate Nurses will
successfully obtain NIHSS certification and ACLS certification
within 90 days of start date. Qualifications -
- Associates in Nursing Required -
- Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years -
- Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at
least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of
experience in a licensed health care role and must have
successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination. -
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required -within 60 days
- NIH Stroke Certification - NIHSS National Institute of Health
Stroke Scale CHS Required within 90 Days
- AHA Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 90
