Job Description:
The Speech Language Pathologist serves students in the preschool at
Meyer under the direct supervision of the building principal and
the Director of Student Services. This is an inclusion position
with a majority of services being delivered in the general
education setting and will work to develop skills related to
developing communication for our early learners including skills
related to early literacy, articulation, fluency, receptive,
expressive and social language.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide a continuum of services that focus on prevention,
intervention, and remediation of skills
- Provide services that address the processes of listening,
speaking, reading, and writing
- Implementing, monitoring, and supporting use of low or high
tech Augmentative and alternative Communication systems (AAC)
- Creating play-based intervention activities
- Collaborate with colleagues in the design and implementation of
support plans
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support transfer of
learned skills into the classroom
- Use a variety of service delivery models including direct and
indirect models for individual and groups of students
- Provide services in a variety of settings (classroom, small
group, individual)
- Monitor and report student progress towards specific speech
goals
- Maintain compliance with services mandated by IEPs
- Act as Case Manager and LEA for speech-only IEPs
- Monitor student progress and problem solve with team members to
address academic and behavioral needs throughout the year
- Monitor, collect, and share relevant data with student's
team
- Consistently evaluate effectiveness of accommodations,
interventions, and academic programing; make necessary changes or
adjustments to increase effectiveness of student's plan
- Complete screenings for new students and students identified by
staff
- Completion of relevant Domain paperwork when case study is
initiated
- Conduct a variety Formal and Informal
- Write and upload reports for evaluations and reevaluations
- Attend evaluation and IEP meetings to share assessment
results
- Complete all special education paperwork in a thorough and
timely manner in accordance with provided guidelines including (but
not limited to):
- Complete Present Levels of Performance, goals, and Services and
Placement for all students on caseload at least 1 week prior to
evaluation or IEP meeting
- Manage all paperwork for speech-only re-evaluations and IEPs in
compliance with the law
- Maintain student IEP folders
- Communicate with Case Manager if IEP amendment/addendum is
required for Speech Services
- Update student's team following an IEP meeting
- Attend team meetings
- Attend grade level, and individual problem solving meetings as
needed
- Monitor relevancy of current assessments and order assessment
materials as needed
- Complete required Medicaid billing for students
- Other duties as assigned by building administration and/or
primary evaluator
