Job Description:
Lifescan Labs of Illinois - Position Summary:
-This position oversees technical operations within the Core
Laboratory. Responsibilities will include daily oversight of the
Core Laboratory workflow and staffing, management of testing and
support personnel, and assurance of timely, high quality test
results. - This individual is a member of the Laboratory Leadership
team, reporting to the National Laboratory Administrative Director.

-Essential Functions of the Job:
- - - - - - - - - Provides daily oversight of the Core Laboratory
workflow to ensure effective utilization of staff and timely, high
quality test results.
- - - - - - - - - Directs staff in the performance of their duties
and responsibilities including oversight for hiring, training,
competency assessment, performance evaluations, and goal
setting.
- - - - - - - - - Monitors quality of test results; identifies
instrument/reagent issues and serves as primary point of contact
for investigation and resolution. -
- - - - - - - - - Evaluates test methodologies/instrumentation and
provides recommendations for change as appropriate.
- - - - - - - - - Develops SOPs and competency training modules for
new and existing instrumentation/ methodologies. -
- - - - - - - - - Ensures that all applicable employees have read
the SOPs, completed the competency testing modules, and that
documentation is complete and meets CLIA guidelines. Identifies and
resolves gaps.
- - - - - - - - - Coordinates new instrument/methodologies
validations and other initiatives in support of new business growth
opportunities.
- - - - - - - - - Gathers and formats data pertaining to
installations/validations into appropriate format for presentation
to the Medical Director for review and approval.
- - - - - - - - - Ensures that proficiency testing for new
equipment and methodologies meets/exceeds all regulatory
standards.
- - - - - - - - - Serves as subject matter expert for Core
Laboratory tests, responding to questions from clients or other
Lifescan personnel, as appropriate.
- - - - - - - - - Supports and communicates Laboratory initiatives
and philosophies; serves as a member of the Laboratory Leadership
team.

Education/Training/Work Experience:
- - - - - - - - - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical
Laboratory Sciences, or Medical Technology program from an
accredited institution.
- - - - - - - - - MLS/MT (ASCP), AMT or another national
accreditation required.
- - - - - - - - - Minimum 3 years' experience in a high complexity
clinical laboratory required.
- - - - - - - - - Exceptional organizational and problem-solving
skills. Ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks to
successful and timely project implementation.
- - - - - - - - - Knowledge of Lean or Process Improvement tools
preferred.
- - - - - - - - - Strong change management skills required; strong
interpersonal skills to drive collaboration and teamwork in
achieving Laboratory goals.
- - - - - - - - - Ability to effectively support technical staff to
adopt new policies and procedures and meet expected timelines.
- - - - - - - - - Exceptional verbal and written communication
skills.
- - - - - - - - - Attention to detail.
- - - - - - - - - Strong computer skills and working knowledge of
programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
