This position is part of the district's administration leadership team, and reports to the Executive Director. MBA or Master's Degree in Human Resource Management or related field a plus. Prefer an individual that possesses a current PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification. A minimum of at least five (5) years of experience in human resource management that includes risk management and benefit administration. -Experience with administering IMRF benefits, and claims administration desirable. Experience with UKG HRIS software a plus but not required. Experience with ACA (Affordable Care Act) reporting and compliance required. Prior participation in the IAPD/IPRA Distinguished Agency (DPRA) certification process a plus. Position requires excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills, -strong supervisory, customer service and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to interact with all employees and all levels of management in a knowledgeable, positive, professional and helpful manner. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality, possess good judgment, and be approachable.Duties: Responsible for overseeing the district's human resource function. Major areas of responsibility include employee relations, recruitment and hiring, wage and salary administration, benefit administration, onboarding, training, personnel policy development and revision, and ensuring that the district is in legal compliance with all State and Federal employment laws. Serves as a lead member of the district's Safety Committee and loss control review process; works -closely with PDRMA (Park District Risk Management Agency) staff and manages all workers' comp, property damage, vehicle claims and patron claims for the district. Administers all unemployment claims and represents the district at unemployment hearings. Counsels supervisory staff in employee relations, manages investigations, discipline, performance improvement plans and terminations. Serves as a resource to employees that are experiencing work related or personal problems. Maintains all personnel files and accurate job descriptions for all positions. Oversees the payroll process that is performed in house. Supervises the full-time Payroll/HR Coordinator and part-time HR department staff. -To apply: Complete online employment application.
