Position Summary:

The Aftermarket Engineer is responsible for the design and release of components that have been identified by product line managers. The aftermarket engineer's responsibilities will include product engineering, application engineering, manufacturing engineering support, as well as quality and customer support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)

The Aftermarket Engineer is responsible for the support of the DRiV organization. This work may include:

  • Part design & reverse engineering of products
  • Working with internal and external engineering teams to develop product
  • Validation testing & part approval
  • Determine quality/inspection requirements
  • Perform failure analysis
  • Support Purchasing and Marketing functions with relevant engineering insights
  • Interface directly with external customers and suppliers
  • Provide engineering support for the manufacturing plant

    Qualifications - Required Skills:
    • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple simple new engine part programs
    • Interface with marketing, sales, purchasing and other relevant engineering groups
    • Possess the necessary skills to reverse engineer aftermarket products
    • Possess basic knowledge of Robust Design principles including Quality History, FMEA and Validation Test Plan development
    • Possess basic knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
    • Possess the basic skills for measurement systems
    • Possess basic project management skills
    • Good Microsoft Office Tool knowledge and computer proficiency
      • Prepare testing requests, evaluate test results and publish final test reports
      • Support and resolve engineering quality issues
      • Evaluate returned product for failure mode and provide relevant feedback
      • Work with manufacturing facility to assure ability to manufacture designs and participate and/or lead design for manufacturing feasibility reviews
      • Develop a working knowledge of the customary materials
      • Develop test plans based upon requirements
        • Interface with the customers and suppliers with appropriate supervision
        • Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor
        • Must be capable to follow standard company 3-D solid model system, guidelines and format with minimum direction
        • Must be able to create and understand various component drawings in appropriate format. Recreate existing manually drawn customer prints on CAD system
        • Must be able to fully dimension drawings following approved company procedures
        • Knowledge of GD&T

          Desirable Educational / Work Experience:
          • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Preferred)
          • 0-3 years of experience in engineering industry, automotive engineering or manufacturing backgrounds preferred
