Overview TalentFish is casting a line for a Payroll Specialist! This is a contract opportunity located in Northbrook, IL. The Payroll Specialist will ensure the seamless, accurate, and timely processing of payroll for all employees while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and regulatory compliance. What You Bring to the Role · Proven Payroll Expertise: Must have hands-on experience in payroll processing and a strong knowledge of payroll systems and software. · Educational Background: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. · Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, wage garnishments, and tax deductions. · Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with modern payroll software platforms. · Discretion & Professionalism: Proven ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with the utmost integrity. · Detail Orientation: Exceptional accuracy and the ability to meet rigid deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Must Have Skills and Experience · Hands-on payroll processing experience. · Experience with full-cycle payroll (timesheets ? processing ? adjustments). · Knowledge of garnishments tax withholdings. · Strong attention to detail accuracy (zero-error mindset). · Experience using payroll systems and MS Excel. What You'll Do · Timesheet & Data Management: Verify employee timesheets for accuracy and enter payroll data into databases/spreadsheets, ensuring all hours and compensation details are captured correctly. · Disbursement Oversight: Manage direct deposit requests, update banking information, and process paper checks for distribution with proper documentation. · Compensation Adjustments: Calculate and execute pay adjustments for raises, bonuses, commissions, and other changes to employee pay. · Garnishments & Compliance: Process and track wage garnishments according to legal requirements and maintain up-to-date records of tax withholdings and benefits. · Reporting & Audits: Generate detailed payroll reports for internal departments and management to support accounting and financial audits. · Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries, resolving discrepancies and providing high-level customer service. Compensation and Employment This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. The expected hourly rate for this position is $22 - $26 per hour W2depending on experience and qualifications.
