Job Description:
Description The Ocean Marine Manager will lead a team of Marine
underwriters in the Midwest Region underwrite Ocean Cargo products
for both Major Accounts and Commercial Insurance clients. The
Manager will provide oversight of the Major Ocean Marine portfolio
for the Midwest region, while underwriting some individual risks
and providing subject matter expertise and handling referrals
within their authority. They will also provide subject matter
expertise by demonstrating understanding the following:
Fundamentals of coverage, terms and conditions. Ability to offer
coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the
Company while meeting the needs of the customer. Deep understanding
of Ocean Cargo business. Risk Assessment. Ability to identify risk
exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls.
Ability to select risk based on exposure and risk analysis. Ability
to analyze claims and quantify losses. Financial proficiency.
Understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk
analysis. Understanding of insurance financial fundamentals; impact
of underwriting decisions on company assets. Actuarial
fundamentals. Ability to understand loss trends and ratemaking.
Ability to quantify risk based on experience history and
forecasting methods. Marketing and communications. Ability to
develop a regional marketing strategy, and to sell and negotiate to
achieve bottom line profitability for the Company. Ability to make
presentations and communicate articulately. Ability to base
communications on strategic thinking. Systems and programs. Ability
to use systems and software programs needed to conduct daily
business. Achieve financial goals related to new business
production, renewal retention and rate. Ensure regional
underwriting integrity and profitability. Manage regional authority
inclusive of underwriting referrals from underwriters as well as
referrals through Major and CI Home Office. Supervise, develop, and
train employees, including weekly office hours and one-on-one
meetings with direct reports. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of
current underwriting/insurance experience –concentration in Ocean
Marine. Minimum 2 years of Leadership/Management experience. Strong
marketing and underwriting skill set with an emphasis on
relationships and exposures in the Midwest region Able to work
collaboratively and prioritize in a matrix environment Strong oral
and written communication skills PC and Microsoft Office Products
proficient The pay range for the role is $165,300 to $190,000. The
specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other
factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a
discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a

adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the
